Global Poverty Action Day Film Screening and Discusssion

On April 19th, the UC Davis Blum Center will host a screening of Poverty Inc., a documentary that takes a critical look at what it terms the "aid industry" to uncover the ways in which the traditional systems of development assistance by the West can stifle economic development and reinforce cycles of poverty in developing countries. The screening will take place the evening of April 19th, beginning at 5pm and will be followed by an informal Q&A discussion facilitated by UC Davis faculty with expertise in international development and foreign aid. There will also be an opportunity to support a UC Davis student-led project to construct a community library in Haiti. Donations are welcome.
